New Products from Duke Magneto

Duke has been very busy on a couple of new products. He recently finished up work on some great looking Home Movie Seating. His latest are an Animated Soda Machine and an Animated Popcorn Machine. Get your hot buttered popcorn, an ice cold drink, and head over to your movie seat and you're all set to watch your favorite movie on the big screen. Wedding Bells are Ringing

Last night Duke and I took part in the wedding rehearsal for our friends Chaz Longstaff & Kip Ashbourne. Everyone looked great and the Cathedral of Ciel is a very beautiful place for a wedding ceremony. Lots of planning and details are going into this event and I am happy to be a part of it. The lucky couple will be united this Sunday, July 26th at noon.

What has Rocky been up to?

Rocky has been very busy in RL and SL. I took a refesher DJ course in SL last week. Had a great teacher and got some great tips on how to use SAM4. Now I need to work on building and organizing my music library, but I guess that will never end. While I have no great aspirations to be the next greatest SL DJ, its a skill to know for an impromptu party.

Last week I was also out sick for a few days. Not sure what RL bug bit me, but I am happy to be back in SL with all my friends.

I spent a lot of time last night unpacking, weeding and filing all the "stuff" I got in the Make Him Over Hunt. It looks like a mix of some good and some not so good stuff, but it was fun. I still have a lot to unpack.

Duke has picked up a few SL work projects so he is a happy camper. I got to see him earlier today. Some of you have asked about him and yes he is still around. You just don't catch us out together as often as before.

Our Duck at Home

Our dog Mig went back into Duke's inv. Mig can be extremely hyper at times so we are taking a rest. Speaking of rest, we recently got this beautiful mallard duck who is seen here floating off our dock. We even have a duckling who is nearby in this picture. Update: Duke informs me that our duck's name is Herbert. *giggles*

My First Year in Review - Part 2

Rocky returns to SL with a new computer and realizes the huge difference a better graphics card can make on his SL experience.

Getting land and making a home in SL was a pretty cool thing after spending months homeless and looking for discreet places to change clothes in.

Keeping up with all the changes going on with the club and keeping the community spirit that makes Jake's a home for everyone who comes out to party with us.

Meanwhile, my friend list begins to grow. I become good friends with Troy Antwerp, Patty, Ritch, Tyler and my huge Jake's family. I also get connected with my blog buddy and friend JC who shares tips with me and inspires me to look for ways to make my blog interesting. I also become a co-author on the Jake's Club blog.

Brady and Troy's wedding last year was another first for me and I was so happy to be a part of that experience.

Then came getting SL voice to work and joining my SL friends on Skype. Another cool experience that I would recommend others participate in.

These days its all about spending time with my Duke. He has become my very best friend and partner.

Looking back I can see that Rocky has come a long way to where he is today, but it is not without all the great friends who have shared the adventure with me. Love you all and I look forward to many more awesome experiences. (((HUGS)))

Give me some skin.

Last night I got an invite from Yummy Andrew to Club Ultra where he was playing. DJ Yummy is a really cool, nice friendly guy so how could I say no. The crowd was light, maybe about 8 or 10 at the most.

While I was there, I came across Warren Shepherd. Warren's avatar skin looked a bit familiar to me. It was sorta like looking in the mirror -- well not exactly -- but it turns out that we do have the same skin. I had a flashback to my noob long late night makeover and my first trip to Naughty.

So this got me thinking about avatar appearance. I have been in SL for almost a year now and have never changed my skin. Eventhough I have played around with some variations of my prim hair, I probably will keep my skin for a while longer. My friend Ritch has recently played with trying a new skin. Even Duke invited me to go check out skins.

So how comfortable are you in YOUR skin? Whether the change is subtle or extreme it may not only say something about you, but also about how we see each other. There is no denying that the visuals can be quite amazing here in SL -- almost lifelike. How important is this for you? Eye candy is nice, but Rocky also likes substance. How we get at the substance can, in some cases be a bit more challenging. Hugs.

Movie Night at Jake's

A fun way to end the weekend is to go see a movie with your SL friends. Sunday night is movie night at Jake's. Last night we saw the movie "Twilight" and last week we saw "Mamma Mia." Who knows what movie will be next?

The set up is realy nice and the theater seats have some cool poses where you can clap too. Duke is already working on some more great seat options for these theater seats. Always something new. So be sure to join us for Movie Night at Jake's Club Resort.

Family Group Hug

Tonight was Family Night and a way for us to celebrate Syri's Bday/Rez Day. It was pretty cool. We all put on our pajamas and got together in Brady & Troy's Theater to watch the movie Rent. It was a lot of fun. We ended our time together with a group hug. Who knew we could all squeeze in this tight for a hug.

My Weekend in SL

This past weekend was a blast. I had a lot of fun attending the weekend events that were held at Jake's Club Resort. I even got over to check out Jake's Club Landing. It was pretty amazing to see. I had not visted in awhile. Myles has done a great job in creating some very nice condos. Duke and I even caught Myles, Theo, Jamie and Kevin fishing. The latest addiction of my SL friends. Guess I am gonna have to try it out for myself.

The weekend went by really fast and the weather was nice here in RL. Temps were flirting with 70º. Hope you had a great weekend too.

Enjoy Internet Radio on your Land!

There are a lot of freebie radios out there, many with "dead" links in them. Even my dance hud has a list of streams and a few of those are dead links too. So how do you keep up with these changes?

Duke and I have been enjoying our latest toy. It's a 1 prim internet radio that works great on our land. This is one of the best radios I have seen and a great value for the $L. The one pictured here costs $L395. I suppose the best feature is that it searches the Shoutcast and IceCast directories directly from the internet. This makes the radio much more customizable because you pick the stations you want to add to the radio. Visit XstreetSL for more information or visit them inworld.

Rocky & Duke Spend Time

So how does Rocky spend his time in SL? Well... Rocky loves to go out and explore sims, go dancing at clubs, and shopping. But the one thing that I really enjoy is spending time with my guy Duke. When we are not out and about, we are spending time at our home or in my workshop. Duke creates some amazing products like the Theater Seats and these really awesome beds, so its no surprise that when we are out, I catch him examining everything. And I guess this has sort of rubbed off on me too.

The really cool thing I enjoy is when we work together on projects large and small. Whether it's our land radio player or working on animations. It makes my SL experience more complete when I can share doing these kinds of things with him. I think the whole community aspect is the reason I enjoy spending time in SL. I have been so fortunate to have so many great friends in SL. Thanks.

Ride the Train at Ivy Falls

Last night Duke and I wanted to get these nice looking boots at Exile on the Ivy Falls sim. Thanks to my friend Tyler Ethaniel for the fashion tip. After we got our boots, we noticed train tracks.

Duke found the station and we just had to hop on and ride. wink wink. Check it out. This train goes all around the sim. The sim looks great at all environments so be sure to try all the settings. Here is the SLURL.

Do you have an SL Pet?

I put off getting a pet for a long time, but when I met Duke, I discovered that he had an Australian Shephard name Mig. Mig is a really cool dog and I am having lots of fun learning and training him. If you want a dog, where can you go to find one? Lot's of people seem to know about Zooby's. They have all kinds of pets there. Mig came from the VKC Dog Park. They have all kinds of dogs waiting to be adopted. Check them out.

When does a door open the wrong way?

Ok, this post has nothing profound to say about the idea of an "open door brings opportunity". It's really about my boo boo last night. I was home in SL making some adjustments to the doors of the house to change the greeting and that went well on a few doors. But then I could not get the notecard to open on a few of the doors. Duke explained to me that I needed to unlink any parts associated with the door. Bingo! that did the trick.

Later I noticed that one of the doors was swinging open the wrong way. Ugh.. now what? Duke comes to my aid again and after I rotate the door and get it into postion he points me to a place in the viewer that will reset the scripts. Yay! Working with object problems can be a pain, but having Duke there to offer assistance makes it easier to handle. Thanks.

Are we human...or are we dancers?

My good friend Brady has said that Rocky is a curious person. I was thinking about this last night as I was loading dance pictures of Duke and I into a picture viewer. As I watched the pictures cycle through the viewer I could not help but smile at where I have come in terms of my relationship with Duke. My sense of wonder involves how this can even happen here in this world we call Second Life. What is it about the person behind the avatar that is both intriguing and very much human? The answer comes when we are able to see more deeply and beyond the exterior. When we are able to feel comfortable with and grow fond of someone it feels right. Crazy? It just boggles my mind, but maybe I just need to stop analyzing, let go, and enjoy this moment in time.

Places to Explore - Urban Spirit Mainstore

Last week, Duke and I went to this really cool place with lots of freebies called Urban Spirit. I am personally not a huge fan of this stuff, but I was definitely intrigued to say the least. There are tons of all kinds of grungy things to be found throughout the store. We explored outside the store and discovered even more dirty, trashy stuff. The Dirty Public Restroom is also not for the faint of heart. Are you curious? Go check it out.

Theater Seats, Elevators, Headgear

My very best SL friend right now is Duke Magneto. He is a really smart business guy and he creates some pretty amazing stuff. I have even had the opportunity to try out and own some of these fun products. His latest project is a very well designed bed with a lot of great pose options. One thing Rocky loves about all the products are the many options you find on that infamous blue menu. You can also find a lot of these products on xstreetsl. There are some exciting things happening in the coming weeks and Duke is definitely going to be part of it.

Rocky was up late.

I went dancing with my best friend Duke at Sky and then we headed over to catch Syri at Thunder. After saying goodnight, I went home to play around with some terraforming and landscaping. I am not very good at the terraforming, but I guess practice makes perfect. I planted a few trees and played around with a few dock ideas that Duke gave me. I have lots of ideas but nothing concrete and sometimes it helps to just dive in and see how things will look.

Jake and Ritch came over and we chatted while I danced and worked in the yard. It was a late night, but a good one. I really need to watch the time better.
