Searching for that unique item

The other night I was out with my friend Divos who wanted to show me a new skin that he was interested in. The idea was that it was different from all of the others he had seen on the grid. This is so true. How many times have you come across or noticed that the skin or shape you have is also shared by others? Everyone wants to create their own style and not look like a cookie cutter replicate of another.

This also applies to dances. I remember when my friend JC noticed that I had also discovered some of cool dances at Akeyo. He was a little bummed out about it, but now I have them too and they are my favorite as well.

Last night I was IM chatting with my friend Brendan about the clothes and outfits we got from the recent MHOH 2. I showed him a picture of me in one and he said "I have that one too" In this case, I think the best thing to do is to pull apart the "outfits" and use them as separate pieces. It does mean more work to create and put the jeans and shirts in separate folders, but it should be well worth it. Besides, who wants to look like that poster in the shop anyway.

So go out and create your own individual SL Style and have fun.

My First Year in Review - Part 2

Rocky returns to SL with a new computer and realizes the huge difference a better graphics card can make on his SL experience.

Getting land and making a home in SL was a pretty cool thing after spending months homeless and looking for discreet places to change clothes in.

Keeping up with all the changes going on with the club and keeping the community spirit that makes Jake's a home for everyone who comes out to party with us.

Meanwhile, my friend list begins to grow. I become good friends with Troy Antwerp, Patty, Ritch, Tyler and my huge Jake's family. I also get connected with my blog buddy and friend JC who shares tips with me and inspires me to look for ways to make my blog interesting. I also become a co-author on the Jake's Club blog.

Brady and Troy's wedding last year was another first for me and I was so happy to be a part of that experience.

Then came getting SL voice to work and joining my SL friends on Skype. Another cool experience that I would recommend others participate in.

These days its all about spending time with my Duke. He has become my very best friend and partner.

Looking back I can see that Rocky has come a long way to where he is today, but it is not without all the great friends who have shared the adventure with me. Love you all and I look forward to many more awesome experiences. (((HUGS)))

So many blogs, so little time to read them, but its nice to know that the SL community is very active in the blogosphere. I just caught this story over at New World Notes. The complete list can be found at the Second Effects blog. These are based on Technorati rankings and are the most active.

Congrats to my friend JC who made the list with his blog Midcourt at #65. The JAKES OF SECOND LIFE blog (Rocky currently authors this one), came in at #95.

UPDATE - Ok, it looks like I missed a few others that also deserve recognition. Not only did I miss this blog #99, but a few others. Thanks to my friend, Jago Constantine over at Sex Afficiando for scanning the list more carefully.

Where do you want to go?

The weekend was great. I was out exploring and discovered some really cool places that I will be sharing in a series of posts called - "Places to explore". I have to admit that I got the idea from fellow blogger JC over at Midcourt. There is a lot of really cool stuff out there. Whether you are looking for fun rides and attractions, places that offer great photo opportunity, or just a nice place to spend time relaxing and or cuddling with a friend. So watch this space for the series.

Last night leftovers were delicious

I woke up this morning filled with "stuff" to blog about. Last night I had a great chat with JC. It was so cool to dance with him in the bubble. The song that DJ Syri ends the sets with kept playing in my ear. You know the one. 525,600 from Rent.

Cleaning out and organizing my inventory earlier in the day brought some discoveries of things I had no idea why I acquired them. Sure it's nice to have all these things, but as in real life they can't replace, care, friendship, patience, honor, respect, and the glue that binds them all together -- LOVE. My eyes opened once again as I read it on JC's shirt and saw it in the smile upon his face. Yes, we are all RL people behind the avatars we create and there is no denying that our interaction can have an affect on ourselves and on others. Let's always remember that. Hugs.

Just a short post to thank all my friends for the tips I received during my absence. Tyler, DigitalJ, Osiris, JC, Mike, Syri, and Thomm. Much appreciated. You guys are great. I look forward to seeing all of you in world again real soon.

The New Jake's Dance Club & Fine Arts Lounge

Last night was the Grand Opening of Jake's Dance Club & Fine Arts Lounge on Fire Island Pines. The club finally has a new home thanks to our wonderful hosts at Fire Island Pines. The new club is huge. From the large patio entrance out front you enter through huge open glass doors. To the left you will find Brady Rowell's fabulous art gallery where you then ascend the stairs up to the spacious dancefloor complete with lounge space.

Other spaces include to the right of the entrance a Wet Lounge with a huge fountain and place to be a bit more intimate if you so desire. On the back side you will find a large pool area complete with the signature red color scheme that is used throughout. Special thanks to Baz and his co-builder for their work on the new design. Makeover Monday at Brady's ended with an impromptu party at my place next door. No house yet, but hey, all you need is a dancefloor, music and the company of great friends. Throw in a Hot SL Cowboy with particles and what more could you ask for? Ok... I know what you're thinking... strip down and hot chat. We had that too. :p The party was a blast. Thanks guys.
