Fall is in the Air

A lot of stuff going on in my First and Second Life.  Trying to keep up with it all.  Just wanted to stop and take time to post this nice Fall scene I recently came across in SL.

This is an area behind the Apple May Design Mens Store.  There is a pumpkin hunt going on there and there are very nice scenic spots so I snapped a few and share one here.

I have a few more on my flickr page.

Second Life: The adventure continues...

I grabbed a water bottle and my backpack and headed out to explore SL. 6+ years and it is still a great adventure for me. I hope it is for you too.

MMM Ice Cream

One of my favorite things to do in SL is to just hit the mainland and see what is out there.  I guess this is what Rod Humble called "the wild frontier spirit."  So this time I explored Route 11.  The journey began when I followed an old Landmark that was in my inventory.  Places come and go often in SL.  I imagine more so on the mainland.  The LM I took landed me someplace along Route 11.  At first I hitched a ride on one of those tour pods you see all over.  I got off at one of the Rez Zones and along came this ice cream truck and sure enough I was able to hitch a ride on it.  I didn't even have to steer it.  The funny thing is that I got off just as it was about to hit water. The road sorta ended.  I stood there and watched it continue on as if the road was still there.

Spring is in the air, well almost, I am dealing with some April showers at the moment in my first life.

I want to share about a new place I discovered last week called Forest Floor.  This place is very well laid out on the sim.  There are beautiful walkways and a huge area outside devoted to displays of trees, flowers and all kinds of nice things for your garden landscape.

Inside the building at the center is where you can find even more items such as garden furniture.  There is a greenhouse toward the back with nice potted flowers and plants.  I was a bit rushed when I went the first time, but I will definitely be going back.  If you are looking for some inspiration for your own home garden landscape be sure to visit Forest Floor.

Not interested in either of these.

Hummm.. I wonder who left these here  As you can tell by the look on my face, this is not the visual stimulation I was looking for.  LOL

There are some great pose props and furniture here including a dance pole.

Rocky Visits LaPerla II, Old Italy

Sim Owner Addy Hax describes it like this,  “La Perla Due” : a beautiful and with love for details build Italian village, nice shops, cafes, bar and a lot more to explore, from time  to time there are live music events on the plaza or in the club. The church  on the hill can be rented for wedding.

I recently went for a visit and spent some time exploring the shops and taking in the beautiful landscape.  Here is your ticket to a vacation you won’t forget — http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/FuriZona/112/59/25

Imagination and Wonder - Don't Lose it

Last night was the "Lights on Broadway" party at Jake's. The set was amazing and what is even more amazing is that here in SL we have the opportunity to experience people and places in a way we may never have imagined. The ability to travel to all sorts of places we only dream of visiting. All with the click of the Teleport button.

I know it's my own "child-like" sense of curiosity and adventure that keeps me going in SL. There is so much to see and do.

The other thing is the friends we encounter in SL. I have touched on the various kinds of "ships" in a prior post. I tend to have a good sense of the people I meet. The connections are amazing. My recent friendship with Kal has turned into something very special that is hard to explain. Although we have never met in first life and are miles and miles apart, I feel very close to him. Perhaps you have experienced the same thing.

Letting go of all the "junk" that's put in front of our first life is hard. But when we let go of all the hate, prejudices and ugliness we open ourselves up to a world of amazing opportunity to do good not only in this life, but in our second life as well.

Just for the Guys Hunt

Yes, I have been a bad boy lately, but I promise to knuckle down and post more on my blog.

I just wanted to mention this hunt for those of you who enjoy them. This is an opportunity for you to get out and explore some shops and check out some new clothes. Like I mentioned before, it's always hit and miss with what you find on these hunts. Some stuff will be better than others depending on your own personal taste.

All the info is on the blog here : http://jftg.blogspot.com/

Music is Universal

There is something very special about how music plays a part of my life. There is always something that strikes a certain mood with me. That's what I like about the wide range of music I enjoy. DJ, Club, Dance, House, Trance, Techno, Pop, and even Classical music. Besides exploring the grid and shopping (among other things), you can find me dancing in a club just about every night of the week.

So why is that you may wonder? Well the social nature is definitely a plus that I have come to grow into and appreciate. While I don't have hundreds of friends on my list, I do have a great core group of friends who I have come to know and love. I remember my early days in SL where I was a lot more quiet if you can believe that. SL has been a great place for me to "get out" and explore in a comfortable setting.

Here are some radio stations that I have come across lately that you may want to check out and perhaps add them to your land radio / media if you are fortunate enough to own land. Don't be afraid of the French and German language. You can easily find the media link on the pages.

Akeyo

When I first started looking for dances, I discovered Akeyo on House Music Island. It's probably one of the smallest Akeyo stores I have seen. I even blogged a picture of that place some time ago.

I recently discovered another Akeyo store. As you can see by the picture, it's huge, very well layed out and makes for a pleasant shopping experience. So go check it out. Here is the SLURL.

Why should you try any SL Hunt?

I am just about finished with MHOH2. I found most of the symbols. I just need to go back and find the difficult ones. Some of us may just like to grab the freebie and run or others may make it a contest and race to get to the end.

So why do I participate in any SL Hunt?

First, I use them as a way to get some cool new clothes. Yes, some are duds, but you can weed them out in the end. You could just hunt at the stores you know and like, but you may miss out on a new place you haven't tried yet. I found a few this time around and actually bought a few things.

The other reason is that Hunts offer a great way to explore a new area on the grid, like the nearby places. The grid is a huge place and I always find something new and interesting in my travels.

Finally, as you can see from the pic, most of the stores are all decked out and that creates a photo opportunity if you like to take and share pics in SL.

Port Serenity

Port Serenity is a nice place to visit. While I was there I discovered this nice place to sit and have a pot of Japanese tea.

Imagine Peace Exhibit in Second Life

Today, I went to see the Imagine Peace exhibit in SL. After a short presentation in the Welcome Center, I went to the actual site of the tower. There I met a few others waiting to see the tower light up. It lights up at the region's time, so be sure to have your environment set to the region default. It's pretty amazing as you can see from the picture. The base begins to glow slowly before the rays of light start to shoot up about 500 meter. The message is one of Peace and Love. All my SL friends should stop by for a short visit. Here is the SLURL.
