Menswear Fashion Week 2012

Now imagine this location with lots of avatars and a lot of lag. I have not checked it out yet, but a friend told me it was bad this weekend. I would recommend visiting in the middle of the night and hope for less traffic.

Just for the Guys Hunt

Yes, I have been a bad boy lately, but I promise to knuckle down and post more on my blog.

I just wanted to mention this hunt for those of you who enjoy them. This is an opportunity for you to get out and explore some shops and check out some new clothes. Like I mentioned before, it's always hit and miss with what you find on these hunts. Some stuff will be better than others depending on your own personal taste.

All the info is on the blog here : http://jftg.blogspot.com/

I'll have a Blog Roll and Latte Please.

This past week, I added a couple more friends to my blog roll. Brendan Tsarchon writes a great blog in the style of the infamous Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. A great read. Gabe Bookmite has a fabulous blog about fashion. I love the outfits this boy creates and shares. You can always find posters of our past Jake's Club events here.

And a big thanks to all the new followers of my blog. You are all awesome and I am happy to have you on board as readers. Thanks.

You Know You Want It

YES!! Today is Black Friday. And YES!! you can shop in SL for some fantastic "stuff" to fill up your inventory. Do some SL holiday shopping and get some great bargains from some great designers. How exciting is that?

Ok, that may have sounded a bit too hyper even for me. Anyway, there is always a little something for everybody here on my blog. Especially for the shopper in all of us.

Here is the SLURL
A list of participating shops can be found here :

Searching for that unique item

The other night I was out with my friend Divos who wanted to show me a new skin that he was interested in. The idea was that it was different from all of the others he had seen on the grid. This is so true. How many times have you come across or noticed that the skin or shape you have is also shared by others? Everyone wants to create their own style and not look like a cookie cutter replicate of another.

This also applies to dances. I remember when my friend JC noticed that I had also discovered some of cool dances at Akeyo. He was a little bummed out about it, but now I have them too and they are my favorite as well.

Last night I was IM chatting with my friend Brendan about the clothes and outfits we got from the recent MHOH 2. I showed him a picture of me in one and he said "I have that one too" In this case, I think the best thing to do is to pull apart the "outfits" and use them as separate pieces. It does mean more work to create and put the jeans and shirts in separate folders, but it should be well worth it. Besides, who wants to look like that poster in the shop anyway.

So go out and create your own individual SL Style and have fun.

Why should you try any SL Hunt?

I am just about finished with MHOH2. I found most of the symbols. I just need to go back and find the difficult ones. Some of us may just like to grab the freebie and run or others may make it a contest and race to get to the end.

So why do I participate in any SL Hunt?

First, I use them as a way to get some cool new clothes. Yes, some are duds, but you can weed them out in the end. You could just hunt at the stores you know and like, but you may miss out on a new place you haven't tried yet. I found a few this time around and actually bought a few things.

The other reason is that Hunts offer a great way to explore a new area on the grid, like the nearby places. The grid is a huge place and I always find something new and interesting in my travels.

Finally, as you can see from the pic, most of the stores are all decked out and that creates a photo opportunity if you like to take and share pics in SL.

Weekend Recap

Friday, Ritch and I did our little dj gig at the pool at Jake's Club. We had a great turn out. We always enjoy playing tunes for all our friends that show up.

Saturday was regular theme party at Jake's. This week it was the awesome Star War's Party. The set was so cool. Everyone really got into it with costumes and lots of light sabers. Syri played tunes and kept the party going.

Sunday I was a little busy coming up with a GLAM outfit for Divos Titanium's birthday party later that evening. My friends, Tyler and Ritch did a fantastic job, putting things together. Ritch kept the party rockin as our dj for the night.

Monday was our weekly photo shoot for the club party poster. I started looking when I got home from work. I got an IM from Baz asking about my progress. Brady joined us and we were able to come up with something. We always come up with some great ideas when we get together.

Wow! Rocky has been a very busy boy.

Let's go Shopping!

It's no surprise that shopping is one of my favorite things to do in SL. It can be pretty fun to try out new clothes on your avatar and see how they look. You can even play around with styles you may never consider wearing in your first life.

I recently discovered a very active blog called :ShopaholicFeed.com
I do need to warn you that if you add this one to your feed reader, it will explode as there are lots of entries daily. So go check it out.

Rocky Needs Therapy

I can't believe how late I was online last night taking part in the MHOH. I kept telling myself I would stop after one more and the next thing I know I am going on to the next. The hunt has been alot of fun and I have met a few nice people along the way where we would drop hints to each other. I am also discovering some nice places to shop and I keep the names on a list to visit later. I realize that some of this stuff may or may not be any good and at this point that doesn't bother me. Right now it's all going into a huge MHOH folder in my inv. For me this is about finding new places and collecting the "stuff" along the way. It's been very addictive. Is anyone else hooked on this too? I will be looking for a Shoppers Support Group after June 3oth.

What are you hunting for?

I was out late last night taking part in the Make Him Over Hunt. Not sure if I will find all 150+ gifts, but it is a fun way to pass the time. Right now I just have them stashed away in a folder waiting to be opened when the hunt ends on June 30. I am also on the group list so there is a lot of chatter in IM with people asking for clues and stuff. I think the best way to approach this is to just use the list on the website that has clues and go to locations at random, but you may want to follow the order from start to end.

This seems to be the season for Hunts. If you go to this blog, you will find a few more listed. Including a Storybook Hunt and a Bedroom Treasures Hunt. Humm, that last one sounds interesting. You can even join the Hunters Group. Happy Hunting!
