Remember Jamie Flintlock & KevinM Vollmar?

I've been meaning to blog about my friend Jamie for a couple of weeks now. I have Jamie on my Skype list and the other day I sent him a message. Apparently he and KevinM are taking some time off away from SL. Our first life can get in the way sometimes but hey, that's ok. He didn't really say when he would return, but it was good to chat with him just the same. And now you know.

My First Year in Review - Part 1

This past week I have had several IMs from my SL friends recalling times, places and events over the past year. Most of these you can read about by checking the blog archive on the right, but I wanted to highlight a few here.

As best as I can recall, it all started when I landed on Boot's Gay Beach just after May 23, 2008. It was there that I met JakeC Hotshot and Eddi Haskell. I became the project of a newbie makeover. Something that took several hours and alot of patience on my part to complete. Everything from my Fratboy shape and Dante skin from Naughty, followed by a trip to FNKY for a few things. I guess you could say it was an extreme makeover.

I remember becoming the first prom king at a Jake's party. This was followed by getting a job at Jake's Club and becoming one of The Original Jake's Boys, Getting my photo taken by Eddi for the tip jar. Having long late night chats in the gallery with my first best SL friend Brady. Hanging out with Jamie Flintock, who was so patient with me as I was learning how to climb up stairs. And I will never forget my first Brady photoshoot in the water with Baz and Troy.

But just as things were getting started for me, a few months later, my computer hard drive crashed and I was not able to log into SL.

Beach Party at Boystown

What a great way to end to a wonderful Summer here in SL by dancing at Boystown Beach with all my good friends. Hey, who's that cute guy dancing next to me in the photo? Is that you Troy? I always enjoy hanging out with my friends Brady and Troy. I even got to see my friend Jamie and we chatted a bit about my next big adventure -- Having land and a place to call home.

Boystown Unveiled

Ok, So tonight was the opening of Boystown. Did you go? I met Jamie Flintlock and his neighbor Olle at Boystown for a qwick whirl wind tour. The place looks great. I only got a brief look before it closed a couple of months ago. All this happened just after I landed in SL. The place looks nice and fresh. Ok thats a strange word for it. I will be back to explore more of this place.

We then headed over to the new Blu for some dancing. It basically looks the same. The place was crowed and full of lag. Cody looked great. He sent me a LM to his new place. I will probably get over for a visit to check out the place. He says he should have more furniture by the weekend.

My friend Jamie and I danced and chatted for a long time. He really loves the place and seems to be connecting and making lots of friends. That's him in the red shorts in the picture above.

Boot's Gay Beach

Last night I had just signed on and a few minutes later I got a TP invite from Eddi Haskell to join him at Boot's Gay Beach. I had been to this place a few times before. There were lots of hot guys all over the beach dancing. I saw a huge elephant. "Them Republicans really know how to crash a party." Later I even saw a zebra. All of us having a great time dancing on the beach. That's me in the middle of the picture along JakeC Hotshot and Eddi Haskell on the right and Ammon Pera on the left.

My Friend Jamie Flintlock also showed up. I always enjoy seeing and look forward to chatting with him. He has a few ideas about where he wants to go with his SL experience. I like to help him and give him much encouragement wherever it takes him.

Today in SL

I spent some time roaming around SL this evening. I was hoping to get in and organize my inventory when I got an IM from Brady. Ok, so the distraction was a better choice. I guess I will have to tackle the inventory another day.

I broke away for dinner and then came back and had problems with crashing. I actually discovered that there is problem with my video card according to the message on the blue screen. It looks like I need to knuckle down and get back to putting in that new video card I got to upgrade several weeks ago. This will be especially important if the on board card goes kaput.

I tried to contact Jamie a few times and we did manage to connect albeit briefly before the computer crashed again. I will probably just give up on getting into SL for tonight.

Sneakers and Brady's House

I somehow managed to screw up my inventory and could not locate the original sneakers that were given to me by Jake. My Fnky Sneakers managed to only show up as boxed objects so I needed to find a place where I could unpack them and re-add them to my inventory.

Brady invited me over to his new house to help me out since I needed a place where it was ok to build and rez. He helped me with the minor adjustment once I was able to unpack them to my inventory. Brady doesn't have much furniture in his house yet but I am sure more will follow in due time.

We had a very nice visit as I always do when we have had our late night chats. We chat about life and how things are going with relationships and stuff in SL. Just getting to know each other type stuff. He is a very nice friend.

Jamie also checked in with me while I was at Brady's. We will be in touch again probably tomorrow night when he has more time. He had returned home after a visit with his family and was heading for bed soon so we did not chat long. Thanks for the inventory tip. It can get cluttered in there and it is a good idea to go in and sort, organize and weed.

Welcome to Second Life

Welcome to my place in cyberspace. Here is where I will share my experiences in Second Life. I will mention places and friends and share a few things I have learned along the way.

My name is Rockridge Constantine, but people call me Rocky. I like that. I entered SL at the end of May of this year. My first day in SL was interesting to say the least. Orientation is just the begining of a great adventure.


On my first day, I met Jake who has been a great mentor to me. He helped me shed the newbie look for something much better. It was an extreme makeover with all the right parts included. I really appreciate his help. I certainly get noticed in more places now. :)

The weeks that follow, include dance parties at Jakes Club and meeting more people. Jake's partner Eddi has also been a big help in introducing me to many great people in SL.

A couple of weeks ago, Jake's held a dance with a "Prom" theme. I was so surprised that many people voted me to be the prom king. Well I won the crown and got to share the spotlight with a fabulous SL model whose name is Maeve. That was a great experience that I will never forget. It was also at the Prom that I met a really nice guy name Jamie Flintlock. More about him in my next post.
