Moderate vs. Adult Region Rating

I have a “Moderate” category region and for some time now I have often wondered if this has deterred potential renters from seeking a home at Rockridge Heights.  Am I limiting myself by not switching to the “Adult” category?

First, let me be upfront and say that I am not a sexual prude in my First or Second life.  I think some of you will agree that there are so many ways we can explore a variety of sexual experiences in Second Life that we may not even consider attempting in our First Life.  Sadly, it’s the sexual side that gets sensationalized by some in the mainstream press, but that is a whole other topic for another post.

Let me try and help clear up some misconceptions about what you can and cannot do on a “Moderate” rated region by offering some helpful resources:

If you rent a home at Rockridge Heights, please be assured that I have taken the proper steps to ensure that your parcel privacy is indeed activated.  It looks like I probably need to convey all of this information (possibly on a notecard at the Welcome Center) to region visitors.

This seems to be the bottom line:  “Nudity is allowed on Mature/Moderate land and you can use your sex bed inside the privacy of your own home, just no sex out in the open “public” spaces.”

Pardon Our Pixel Dust

Saint Niguel Isle is getting a makeover.  I have had the sim since last September and now with the help of my land team (Jett Shoreman and Brady Rowell) we are going to transform it into a welcoming place for all our friends to come live, play and enjoy.  We already have a club space on the water, and we are creating a lite commercial area that will include a gallery for Brady.  We will also have lots of parcels available for rent.  It's only the beginning, but we will keep you posted on our progress.

Rocky owns a house.

Last night, we got together to do the photo shoot for the weekly theme at Jake's Dance Club. This week it's Pimps and Ho's. My friend Brady does some really great photo work. He chooses a location and uses good placement of the poses. I highly recommend you contact him.

Afterwards, we went out house hunting. I had spent a few days looking, but the whole thing can be a bit overwhelming. Lots and lots of options. I definitely recommend doing this with a friend. After looking at a few, I found just the right house for my land. No, that picture is not it. I will post one in the future.

A place to call home.

Last Friday I got an email and an IM from my friend Brady Rowell. "Rooooooocky you just gotta be my neighbor." It turns out that the lot next door opened up and was up for sale. I couldn't resist this opportunity. So I made the leap and purchased the land. Yaaaay, I finally have a place to call home here in SL. It's just the land right now, but I have lots of room and now I need to put up a house on the site.

Looking for a Home

Earlier today I was out shopping and looking at land to buy. I am really looking forward to getting a home set up soon, but there is so much out there to see with lots of options.

Sneakers and Brady's House

I somehow managed to screw up my inventory and could not locate the original sneakers that were given to me by Jake. My Fnky Sneakers managed to only show up as boxed objects so I needed to find a place where I could unpack them and re-add them to my inventory.

Brady invited me over to his new house to help me out since I needed a place where it was ok to build and rez. He helped me with the minor adjustment once I was able to unpack them to my inventory. Brady doesn't have much furniture in his house yet but I am sure more will follow in due time.

We had a very nice visit as I always do when we have had our late night chats. We chat about life and how things are going with relationships and stuff in SL. Just getting to know each other type stuff. He is a very nice friend.

Jamie also checked in with me while I was at Brady's. We will be in touch again probably tomorrow night when he has more time. He had returned home after a visit with his family and was heading for bed soon so we did not chat long. Thanks for the inventory tip. It can get cluttered in there and it is a good idea to go in and sort, organize and weed.

What's it all about?

So what is SL all about? As far as I can tell, so far there are lots of dance parties, art gallery openings, and my favorite - Shopping Malls. Even the library sciences people have a presence in SL. I also know that several major companies have set up spaces here in SL. We all seem to be making connections with other avatars for various reasons. Some of which are not always clear up front. Everyone is sharing their talents with others either as designers, architects, builders, scriptors, managers, models and more. Yes, you can even pick up an escort here in SL.

By the way, I am currently looking for a home. I feel a bit strange just participating as a homeless resident. Not that a home is a requirement, but it just seems like "the thing to do". I just need to work out a reasonable budget and decide to rent or own. I am thinking that owning is more the way to go.

I also discovered that residents can actually set up a security system on their home in SL. Bumped into a few when i was flying around yesterday. It can be scary if you are not expecting it. My friend Brady said that it keeps people from having sex in them when the residents are not at home. Hummm imagine that?
