Highlights from Second Life's 12 Birthday Celebration

The theme for this years anniversary celebration is "What Dreams May Come."

There are many activities including live performers, DJs from all over the world,  fantastic exhibits, a hunt and so much more.  I encourage you to go and visit the SL12B website for all the details. 

Even though the party ended on Sunday, there is still time for you to explore the regions and see many of the exhibits until July 4th.  

One of the activities that was well attended were talks given in the Dreamitorium.  My favorite series and probably the ones that most residents really enjoyed were the informative talks in the "Meet The Lindens" series. I recommend that you visit the Second Life YouTube Channel for the full series which is now available for viewing.

It was the first time that I can remember seeing so many Linden Lab staff participating in-world.

I had the opportunity to DJ on the same stage leading up to the event.  It was a very exciting opportunity for me.

I was also a member of the Press Group.  This is something I have participated in for a few years now.  I even shared a few pics on the SL12B flickr page.

Overall, I think this was probably the best Birthday Celebration I have been to in all of my 7 years in Second Life.  I hope you had a chance to visit.  I highly recommend several visits.  There really is so much content to see on all of the regions that make of the celebration.  I also want to thank all the staff who put in countless hours for putting this event together for us.  Thank you.

A Decade of Second Pride

The Second Pride Celebration begins today and runs all week long with DJs and performers from across the Second Life™ Grid.  There will be plenty of opportunities for you to shake your booty on the dancefloor as many of the DJs will be performing throughout the day and well into the SLT night.  I will be performing on Monday 8-10pm SLT on the East Stage.

There will be lots of shops and vendors on 3 regions to satisfy your shopping desire.  Plus there is a Carnival and a Japanese strolling garden.  There will even be a Pride Parade on Sunday June 20th at 10am

This year the event takes place on 3 regions:
Main Stage Slurl - East Stage Slurl - South Stage Slurl

Rocky & Scott

I have been very busy lately with my DJ thing and worked on getting some franchise businesses up on my sim. There is now a Hoorenbeek & Aikito store on Rocky Road.  One of my goals for the coming months is to get a few parcels on the sim ready for rental.  I have put this off long enough.

I have also been re-connecting with Scott since he recently returned to SL  The photo is of us at Si de Brit's rez day party. Scott was the DJ for the event. We both have a few music ideas that we are working on for Saint Niguel Isle.

My SummerFest Recap

Last week was a very busy week for me in SL.  I was involved in some of the activities of the LGBT SummerFest 2011.  If you didn't get to this one you missed out on a lot of fun activities.  I was even asked to manage a full sim which was used to host events from groups that are currently not a part of the GA.  We had a great turn out for several of the lesbian events.  The Famous 5 had a great party and it was packed.  On Saturday was the Nekkid Parade and party at the Slot in San Francisco.  DJ Hotboy kept all the hot sweaty bodies rockin to some great music.  On Sunday, I got an IM from HunterTx asking if I was interested in being on the judges panel for the Mr. Nude contest and of course how could I turn that down.

So yeah some of you got to see more of me than you probably ever imagined *wink*  All good fun.

If you follow my DJ blog I want to give you a heads up that there are probably some changes happening there as well real soon too.

This dirty grungy garage is where you can catch me playing tunes for a great crowd of friends who pack the garage.

The sploder is always loaded and we have a contest for "Hottest in the Slot"

Just another fun addition to my blog that I hope to expand on in more detail in the near future.

Happy New Year

I love the San Francisco Skyline at night. If you have ever been to my home in SL you will find a huge copy of this on one of the outside walls.

So here we are at the beginning of a new year. I don't make resolutions each year, but I do spend some time looking back. 2010 in SL was pretty good. I met a few more people in some ways both in-world and out. Nickk Twist is a great guy who is getting his feet wet in SL and learning so much that SL has to offer. Social aspects are always filled with ups and downs, but i know we all learn from the experience.

Another new friend is Jett Shoreman. Jett is an amazing guy who has a lot to share in terms of building skills. He is warm and friendly and one of my new "groupies" who comes out to my DJ sets on Wednesdays at the Slot in San Francisco.

This was also the year I reached Plurk Karma 100. Boy what a ride that was. Yes, I am a plurkaholic. Follow me if you can.

I want to thank all my blog followers this past year and hope to blog more regularly in the new year. Hugs all around.

The Power of Music

One of the things I enjoy in SL, is when I get to play the DJ for the pool party on Friday. I start at 6pm SLT and we never really know who will show up for it. It's a stress free way to relax after a busy week. We have a few regulars that show up every week and it's always great to see them.

Ritch and I have been doing this for almost a year now. Amazing how time flies. Over time I have gotten to know what songs people enjoy hearing. Sorta what works and what doesn't. I even realize that as i am going through the set. It may sound good when i put the list together, but sometimes when the song gets actually played on air, I may have my doubts about it.

My music collection is not huge by comparison to most DJs in SL, but i do have a variety that I hardly ever get to play. So sometimes I put my stream up online and share some of that variety on air. It's fun to do while I am busy with other things online.

There is something about music that has really always touched my heart in so many ways. It's one of those things that is hard to explain, but I am sure you get what I am talking about.

So the next time you come across a DJ, whether it's me or someone else, just remember that they are sharing a gift which can have a tremendous impact on your heart and how you feel.

Memorial Day Weekend

One of the things I enjoy doing in SL, is being the DJ for the R&R Pool Party at Jake's on Friday. I take the first part and then Ritch takes the second set. It's always a lot of fun to see our friends trickle in to join us at the pool. We have some regulars and always a few surprise newcomers.

I finally got around to updating my DJ Tip jar. I have been playing around with poses and backgrounds. Having a project like this encourages me to get more into Photoshop. The result is what you see here.

DJ Rocky Picking Music to Play

By now you probably know that what started out as an impromptu thing turned into a regular thing. Amazing how that happened. So now Ritch and I play DJ for our all our friends Friday's 5-8pm SLT at Jake's

What you may not know is that I occasionally put my stream up online and play all kinds of music. I actually did this this past week and had a couple of devoted listeners. And yes, I was on mic too.

So what kind of music do I enjoy playing? Well, my library is not huge by any means, but my music range is pretty varied. Pop, Dance, Club, Classical, Trance, House, Jazz. Yep... all kinds. So watch for the link when I post it here, GTalk, Twitter, Plurk, Facebook and Skype.

Friday R&R Pool Party

Rocky & Ritch Party Update

Ritch and I had a lot of fun DJ playing tunes on Sunday. We had so much fun that we took the party past our original plan to stop at 7pm SLT. Divos, Cole, Zann, Tyler, fireboy, Brady and Troy, were just a few of the many who joined us in the plaza at Jake's. Thanks to everyone we will be doing this again soon, maybe a pool party, so stay tuned.
